Fall term closures: the Student Recreation Center will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day. The SRC will also be closed November 21-November 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Currently, we plan to open for the two weeks between Thanksgiving and winter break with limited operations and hours.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the facility, many of our procedures have changed. Please be courteous and compassionate to staff and other members – we are in this together, and will stay safe by helping each other do the right thing.
Campus Recreation takes our members’ health and wellness very seriously. In order to formulate the best response to COVID-19 and keep you safe, we have modified many aspects of our operations and guidelines.
Connect with Campus Rec on social media for reopening updates.
Southern Oregon University has created a webpage dedicated to COVID-19 information and updates on reopening. Visit this page for guidelines on community and personal safety, updates on COVID-19 cases, and the resumption plans for the academic year. Students coming to campus should become familiar with the information on this page, as SOU’s plan will directly inform procedures at the Student Recreation Center.
Why did I have to pay the Rec Center Fee over the summer?
Students who signed up to take summer classes on campus were assessed the Rec Center Fee. This fee is non-refundable, even if the class was moved online due to COVID-19 restrictions. For more information, see our general FAQ.
What can I do in the gymnasium?
Activities currently permitted in the gymnasium are shooting hoops (one person per hoop), 1v1 pickleball, and 2v2 badminton. Members can also use the gym space for bodyweight workouts and cardio. Pickup basketball is NOT allowed.
Are you offering fitness classes?
We are not currently offering drop-in fitness classes. Feel free to check out our Virtual Wellness Resources page for a list of free fitness apps and videos you can do from home or the SRC.
