We are closely monitoring the evolving guidance and requirements from the Governor’s Office, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Oregon Health Authorities (OHA). Our top priority remains the safety and wellness for all members and visitors. We are reorganizing the layout of the SRC, adding new protective/safety equipment, and increasing the number of cleaning stations. We are also adjusting our protocols, lowering the carrying capacity, and providing training so we can comply with the new requirements and offer higher standards of safety for our staff, student-employees, and patrons. In this transition time, when our fitness habits are being challenged, please visit the virtual wellness page for ideas and tips to stay well from wherever you are. We will continue to work towards providing the best response to these challenging times and will reopen when we succeed to meet all aspects for a healthy environment.
What is the Rec Center Fee?
The Recreation Center fee is automatically charged each term to most students taking classes on campus. This fee covers the debt service for the building (principal and interests) and some overhead expenses (utilities, reserves, etc). One way to think about this fee is the debt shared by current and future Raiders to pay the mortgage for having the physical building on campus. The debt service for the SRC is 30 years and will end in 2047.
How is the Incidental Fee used for Recreation?
The operations, programming, and services at the SRC are funded by a portion of the Incidental Fee. This fee funds the salaries for student-employees and staff, the supplies and equipment needed for the programs, and administration costs for various services. A portion of the Incidental Fee also funds the opening and operations of the Student Recreation Center, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, the Outdoor Program, and fitness and wellness programs. One way to think about this fee is the life and opportunities offered within the SRC and through the many recreation services. To learn more about these fees and the Student Fee Committee, visit the ASSOU website.
