Get Fit at Home
Can’t make it to the SRC? Here are a few apps and online videos to help you get a sweat on at home.
Apps
FitOn – tons of completely FREE workouts, including yoga, dance, cardio, HIIT, and more. Plus, create custom workout plans.
Nike Run Club – Track your runs and walks, see split times, and share your progress with your friends. The app also has a selection of guided runs if you need a little extra coaching.
Nike Training Club – a variety of different workouts are available, including no-equipment, some equipment, and full equipment workouts. You’ll also have access to training and nutrition tips and workout plans to help you get started.
Down Dog Yoga – Great for experienced yogis and beginners, plus HIIT, Barre, and more. Free for students, faculty, and staff until January 1, just make sure to sign up with your sou.edu email!
Strava – Track your activity, join challenges, and map your progress against your friends. Great for runners and cyclists.
Youtube Channels
Yoga with Adriene – High-quality, guided yoga videos, great for all levels. There’s even a playlist of videos for beginners.
Fitness Blender – Search over 500 free workouts by length, difficulty, training type, muscles used, calories burned, and more.
POPSUGAR Fitness – Hundreds of free workouts.
Explore Outside
Social isolation doesn’t necessarily mean staying inside. Make sure you follow executive orders and current COVID-19 measures. Some outdoor options might be temporarily restricted.
Local Parks (some park features, like courts and playgrounds, might be closed right now, but you can still walk on trails and streets)
Garfield Park – Ashland – Garfield St and East Main.
Hunter Park – Ashland – Between Walker Elementary and Normal Ave.
Lithia Park – Ashland – Downtown, access by the plaza.
Hiking Trails
Best Trails near Ashland, OR – Many Ashland trails can be accessed easily from the SOU campus!
Hiking Project – This REI app helps you discover more than 217,049 miles of trails to hike with your favorite people, and new trails are constantly being added.
AllTrails – 50,000+ routes, all the trails on the app are curated by hikers and mountain bikers all over the country.
Explore From Your Couch
Epic Films for the Great Indoors – a collection of short adventure films from our friends at the Banff Centre.
GeoGuessr – this site drops you somewhere in the world (via satellite maps) and you have to guess where.
Virtual National Park Tours – check out these natural wonders you can explore digitally!

Mental Health and Mindfulness
It’s more important now than ever to check in with yourself and practice mindfulness.
Apps
Headspace – Guided meditations focused on stress and anxiety, sleeping, movement and exercise, and more. The free version includes basic meditations and special pack focused on the current events. The Student version is only $9.99 per year.
Calm – Meditation app with a large library of guided courses, nature sounds, and video lessons on mindful movement. There is a free version and a paid version.
Smiling Mind – a completely free mindfulness website and app. Includes programs for adults and for kids.
Ten Percent Happier – The free version of the app has essential meditations, along with daily reminders and stat-tracking. They also have a podcast covering a variety of mental health and mindfulness topics.
