Full Service Gear Rentals will Resume Spring 2025
The Outdoor Program gear rental program is closed during fall 2024. Snowshoe and sled rentals will resume in winter term. Full-service rentals for community members, students, and faculty/staff will resume spring term starting March 31.

Everything You Need for Your Next Adventure
Don’t let “I don’t have the right gear” hold you back! The Outdoor Program offers a variety of outdoor adventure equipment to students and community members at affordable prices. Rent everything you need for camping, backpacking, whitewater rafting and kayaking, snowboarding, and more.
Rental Guidelines
- All whitewater gear must be picked up and returned before 30 minutes before closing.
- Late fees: renter will be charged the daily rate for each day past the original due date.
- Payment: all student, faculty, and staff rentals can be paid with a credit card, or charged to campus accounts. Community rentals can be paid with a credit card.
- Repairs and cleaning: cleaning and repair fees will be determined by rental staff on a case-by-case basis. For items like tents and inflatable whitewater equipment, please allow approximately 20 minutes of inspection upon return. All whitewater gear must be transported clean or a cleaning fee will be added to your cost.
- Damaged or lost equipment: the renter is responsible for the replacement at full retail value of any equipment rented under this agreement that is not returned or is unrepairable.
- SOU students, faculty, and staff who have reserved gear must also be present at the time of pickup.

Gear Pricing
All rentals are based on a daily rate up to 14 days, with a 25% discount on rentals over 4 days. Rentals over 14 days will then be assessed on a weekly basis. SOU faculty and staff receive 50% off the Non-Student price. Plan to pick up on Friday and return on Monday for weekend pricing.
