The Southern Oregon region offers incredible opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, whitewater sports, snow sports, mountain biking, and more! The Outdoor Program facilitates multiple adventure trips each term to different outdoor recreation locations. These trips give students a chance to explore nature, build friendships, and engage in new activities outside of the classroom. All trips are planned and led by Outdoor Program student-employees.

The Outdoor Programs welcomes all members of the SOU community to participate in our trips and events regardless of gender identification, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, height, favorite music, food preferences or any of the cool things that make our community vibrant and diverse.
You are the best judge of whether a trip is a good fit for you. If you are thinking about signing up, but are nervous and need more information about the trip or need some accommodations to make participating a reality, please contact the Outdoor Program. Accommodation arrangements can take some time, so please start early!
Raider Wilderness Experience
Sign up for Raider Wilderness Experience (RWE) and start your college career adventuring in the outdoors. These four-day adventures take place the week before the start of the fall term and introduce new students to some of the best outdoor locations in the region. All RWE trips are a great way to make new friends and have a fun adventure before classes start in the fall.
